We are sad to hear of the recent death of Louis Bloch, who represented René Cassin at the Council of Europe. George Wilkes writes:

Louis Bloch was a long time supporter of the work of the Consultative Council of Jewish Organisations at the international organisations in Strasbourg and Geneva. An expert in international human rights law, he came to the attention of René Cassin and was drawn into the work of the Alliance Israelite Universelle and of its sister organisations in the CCJO. A brilliant mind and a charming raconteur, he was also a supporter of the initiative at the UN Human Rights Commission sittings at Geneva which gave birth to the charity René Cassin. Like Monsieur René Cassin, Louis was a proud French patriot and a cosmopolitan, comfortable with the many other environments in which he moved. Those who he touched through René Cassin and the CCJO will wish to send their best regards to his family.
