Why This Matters
Every day, people face barriers that prevent them from accessing their rights and living with dignity.
Hannah (not real name) is a mother of five who fled domestic abuse and sought support from local services. The housing she was initially offered failed to meet her family’s religious and practical needs. Only when a human rights-based approach was applied was her case reconsidered, resulting in safe and suitable accommodation.
This is the difference rights-based practice can make.
