In Holocaust Memorial Week, this powerful documentary remembers a forgotten genocide from the Second World War.
Between 1943 and 1945, 25,000 Roma people were deported from Romania to Transnistria on the border of Moldova and Ukraine. Only half of them survived. Seventy years later, Valley of Sighs tries to reconstruct the journey, places and tragic experiences of the past.
Screening introduced by Professor Rainer Schulze of the University of Essex
Followed by a discussion with Mihai Andrei Leaha, the writer, director and producer of the documentary.
